Munajj STEM Education & Research Consultants (MSERC) LLC was founded in 2018, By Dr. Brett A. Sims. Munajj STEM Education & Research Consultants is dedicated to the evolution of mathematical and scientific thought, dedicated to providing STEM solutions for Academia, Industry, and Community. MSERC is the result of an evolutionary process of science education, research, and businesses practices.

While serving as the Department Head of Mathematics and Computer Science at Grambling State University (2005 – 2009) Dr. Sims operated a robust research agenda forming and advising interdisciplinary teams of undergraduate students to do research in Mathematical Electrophysiology, with funding from the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). Towards his later years at Grambling State University, he initiated clean-energy technology summer programs in collaboration with the university’s Engineering, Physics, and Mathematics departments.

Dr. Sims relocated to New York in 2009 obtaining the position of Associate Professor of Mathematics at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC). He arrived at BMCC as Co-Principle Investigator with a 3-year research grant from the U. S. Department of Energy, to include BMCC in a collaborative with SUNY Stony Brook and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he engaged undergraduates in the quality control process for mathematical simulations involving Nuclear Waste Renewal.

Now in New York and with the community in mind, Dr. Sims and his wife Nadine Sims sought to provide science and mathematics training for junior high school and high school students in local New York City communities. Munajj Enterprises LLC was founded by Nadine and Dr. Sims in 2011 to serve the STEM education needs of local New York City communities. Its first community program was the Green Ready Alternative Energy Program (GRAEP) a modern hands-on program that trains junior high school and high school students in clean-energy science and technology.

The first three years GRAEP was sponsored by the 715th Veterans Association Inc under the leadership of James H. Allen, retired NYC Engineer, and US National Guard Command Sargent Major. Over the course of seven years, with funding from NYC and the West Harlem Harlem Development Corporation, GRAEP served junior high school and high school students in Queens at the Campus Magnet High School, in Brooklyn at the Central Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation, and Manhattan at the Boys and Girls Club of Harlem.

While operating GRAEP, Dr. Sims simultaneously expanded his research efforts into the area of Mathematical Psychology at BMCC, engaging students from mathematics, psychology, physics, and engineering to apply topology and universal algebra to pose and study challenging problems in cognitive processes of the human mind as well as social structures and dynamics, with support from the MAA.

In 2015 he was the Principle Investigator and Director of the Minority Science Engineering Improvement Program (MSEIP), a U.S. Department of Education 3-year grant, to restructure, enhancement and strengthening the learning experience for all STEM students at BMCC. In 2018 Munajj STEM Education & Research Consultants (MSERC) was created to encompass STEM Education Consultancy, STEM Research, and GRAEP. MSERC began collaborating with East New York Restoration LDC in Brooklyn New York, from 2019 to 2022, implementing the GRAEP program where the program is geared towards job training for post-high school students in clean energy technology and installation. Students of GRAEP at East New York Restoration have installed 200 watt and 300 watt mini solar-grids electrifying five participating gardens in Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. Sims earned a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, a Master of Science Degree in Pure Mathematics at Clark Atlanta University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from the State University of New York at Farmingdale. Dr. Sims is dedicated to the evolution of mathematical and scientific thought in academia and the community.
